What does a Cavapoo look like?

Cavapoos can range in size depending on their exact parentage. That’s because breeders may use either a Toy or Miniature Poodle to cross with their Cavalier Spaniel. Regardless, Cavapoos tend to be small dogs.

The Cavapoo’s coat can be either curly or wavy, and the breed sports many different coat colors—great for families who love options!

If you’d like a dog with a round, compact face topped with floppy ears and bushy eyebrows, then a Cavapoo might be perfect for you!

What’s a Cavapoo?

A Cavapoo is a designer dog breed, created by crossing the adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the intelligent, non-shedding Poodle (either a Miniature or Toy Poodle, to be precise).

Cavapoos are also sometimes called Cavoodles and Cavadoodles. Whatever you decide to call them, one thing is for sure—these are some incredible puppies!

How do you groom a Cavapoo?

Cavapoos have a luxuriously soft and curly coat thanks to their Poodle parents. Because of this, Cavapoos are among the least shedding dogs in the world.

The drawback is that your Cavapoo will need regular grooming to maintain its coat—a small price to pay, if you ask us!

What are common Cavapoo health problems?

Cavapoos are generally healthy dogs with relatively few major genetic issues. As with any dog, proper breeding is the most important aspect of avoiding costly vet visits down the road.

Moderately active but prone to weight gain, you and your vet will work closely to determine the ideal diet for your Cavapoo.

What’s a Cavapoo’s personality like?

Cavapoos are kind-hearted, affectionate and friendly. They tend to bond strongly with their owners—sometimes to the point that separation anxiety can sometimes be an issue.

A Cavapoo’s favorite activity is hanging out with you, its owner. Cavapoos are companions at heart, and they get along great with people of all ages—especially children.

How do you train a Cavapoo?

Like most dogs, Cavapoos respond well to positive reinforcement training started from a young age.

Cavapoos are highly intelligent (Poodles are geniuses, and Cavaliers are pretty smart too). And because of their Cavalier blood, your Cavapoo is eager to please. That makes them highly trainable pups!
